About
Bessey OHV is a public off-highway-vehicle trail system in the Bessey Ranger District of the Nebraska National Forest near Halsey, in the Nebraska Sandhills (Thomas County) - one of the few public motorized riding areas in Nebraska. It offers about 36 miles of sandy designated trails winding through hand-planted forest and grassland, mixing straightaways with tight curves, plus two open riding zones (the Hill Climb and the Dismal area). Managed by the USDA Forest Service, it is open for day riding with on-site camping at the Whitetail and Main campgrounds; OHVs must be 64 inches or less in total width.
