About
Platter Hill MX Park is a privately operated motocross facility at 12447 176th Road in Winfield, Cowley County, in south-central Kansas, about an hour south of Wichita and a few miles north of the Oklahoma line. Run by the Nelson family, it uses the natural terrain for a roughly one-mile, 25-to-30-foot-wide track with tabletops (45-, 60- and 95-footers), bermed and high-banked corners, supercross-style whoops, doubles and wide sweepers, and is regarded as one of the more aggressive outdoor tracks in Kansas, with on-site camping. It is generally open for practice and open riding on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (around $20 per rider) and also hosts racing as part of the Central Kansas Motocross Series.
