8,243-acre state park on former lead mine tailings in St. Francois Mountains. 2,000-acre ORV area: 800 acres sand flats (crushed limestone) + wooded trails, hill climbs, play areas. Two campgrounds (OHV-specific and equestrian). UTVs and wider machines restricted to sand flats only. OHV permit required - purchase online at icampmo1.usedirect.com. Summer hours (Apr-Sep): Thu-Sun 7am-8pm. Winter hours (Oct-Mar): Thu-Sun 7am-5pm. Permit sales stop 2 hours before close. One of the most popular ORV areas in the Midwest. Phone: 573-431-1069.
